Irving Band Parents Association (IBPA) Our Booster Club is also part of a larger group called the Irving Band Parents Association (IBPA). It is made up of the Band Booster Clubs from all three Irving high schools - Nimitz, Irving, and MacArthur. This group is the largest parent organization in the City of Irving! Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at Irving City Hall. Boosters from all three clubs are invited to attend. It is a great way to get a view of "the big picture" as it concerns the band programs in our schools. As the largest parent organization in Irving, the IBPA can exercise a tremendous amount of political pressure in the IISD. IBPA members regularly attend school board meetings to be sure that the band program is adequately represented and considered when actions are taken. One recent result of the IBPA representation was a much more profitable concession stand agreement with the school board. The IBPA has also lobbied for and received more instruments for the band. Our next major objective is to increase the number of band directors in the high schools and middle schools. Please try to attend a few school board meetings. Wear your Band Booster shirt and sit with the other IBPA members. Make our voices heard! Every two years, the three high schools provide a different board member to the IBPA: President, Treasurer or Recording Secretary. Nimitz will be providing the Treasurer over the next two school years (2007-2009).
