Fundraising Many people assume the school board furnishes all expenses for the band, but this is not the case. The Band Booster Club is a very important source of funding for our band. Following are some of the things the Booster Club furnishes:
Year after year, dedicated parents along with family and friends help in a variety of fundraising efforts to give our band the things it needs to be successful. Here are a few of the things we do to raise money:
Irving Schools Stadium (ISS) Concession Stands Any of you who attend football games at the Irving Schools Stadium have supported the band every time you bought a drink or bag of popcorn! The IBPA is the group that administers the concession stands at ISS. This board, working in with the Concession Stand Chairmen from the three high schools, organizes the operation of the stands. This includes buying and storing the product; buying and repairing the equipment; and staffing and bookkeeping. Band Boosters from all three clubs staff the stands and the profits are then divided among the three high schools with a portion going to the school district. At Nimitz, profits from the concession stands account for almost half of the money raised each year. It is critical to the success of this program to have your involvement. Parents, family and friends are all strongly encouraged to help work the stands at least twice. Sign up sheets are available at every Booster Club meeting. All three Booster Clubs take care of concessions during regular season varsity football as well as soccer and track meets.
